Canadian-owned · Systems. People. Performance.

For organizations that operate where the consequences are real.

Operational Edge is a Canadian-owned consultancy supporting organizations operating in complex, remote and high-consequence environments — improving readiness, leadership, clinical systems, training and operational performance.

Driven by systems. Defined by results.

What We Do

Three practice areas, one operating philosophy

Understand the operational problem, build a workable system, and give decision-makers the information they need before they have to ask for it.

  • 01

    Advanced Care Paramedic Services

Clinical leadership and frontline paramedicine for systems that operate far from definitive care — where protocols, governance and prolonged care have to hold up without a hospital down the road.

    • Clinical governance & medical-control protocols
    • Community paramedicine and remote & virtual care
    • Workforce development and clinical education
    • Medevac readiness & prolonged-care planning
    • Quality improvement
    Led by Stuart Simmons
  • 02

    Leadership Training & Seminars

Command, decision-making and incident leadership taught by someone who has done it — 24 years of military leadership and JESIP Bronze and Silver command, translated into training teams can use.

    • Major-incident command & multi-agency working
    • Operational and tactical decision-making
    • Search management and SAR leadership development
    • Workforce leadership & governance
    • Business continuity and readiness
    Led by Stuart Simmons
  • 03

    Operational Digital Transformations

Operational systems built by people who have run the operation. We leverage the systems teams already trust and connect them, rather than forcing a rip-and-replace.

    • Operational systems design & development
    • Incident command and accountability platforms
    • Integration with existing systems of record
    • GIS, mapping and communications
    • Secure, scalable architecture

SARManager — bringing search and rescue into the future

Life-or-death response still runs on disconnected tools: D4H, CalTopo, paper ICS forms, phone trees and spreadsheets that don't talk to each other. SARManager is a unified incident-command platform that ties a team's existing systems into one live picture — from callout to close-out.

v1.4.40 · In production
  • Intake to rollout. Parse a dispatch message, plot the IPP, and run a guided Deployment Wizard.
  • Live accountability. A shared Board of who is on scene, on what task — with radio-check timers and drop-dead times.
  • Mapping built in. CalTopo probability rings, team tracks and markers, auto-refreshed.
  • Paperwork, automated. ICS Canada forms and the SAR104 pack, pre-filled from operation data.

Our Approach

Build. Enable. Drive. Achieve.

A sequence, not a menu. Each stage earns the next.

  1. 01

    Build strong systems

Establish the operational backbone — process, governance and accountability the rest of the organization can stand on.

  2. 02

    Enable smarter decisions

Put the right information in front of the right people, early enough for it to change the outcome.

  3. 03

    Drive meaningful results

Convert insight into execution, with ownership clear and progress visible at every level.

  4. 04

    Achieve sustainable growth

Lock in the gains so performance compounds instead of resetting with every change of cycle.
